Australian Tourist Bashes Out Taxi Window in Pattaya..

From Pattaya One News is the story today of an Australian tourist in Pattaya that apparently had too much to drink. A taxi driver had slowed down to a stop light next to the Australian. The Australian apparently flipped the taxi driver the middle finger which happened to piss off the taxi driver who gave back a few choice insults of his own. The taxi driver decided to park to continue the conversation when the Australian approached with a large rock and bashed out the rear driver side window. (From the photo I’d say a large section of concrete sidewalk was used!)

Needless to say this isn’t exactly the best way to win friends and influence people in Thailand or anywhere else. The taxi driver with the help of others detained the Australian until police arrived to take him to the police station.

The Australian apparently had a lucid moment enough to realize he screwed up big time and managed to come to an arrangement by agreeing to pay the taxi driver 20,000 Baht for the broken car window. The police were satisfied and allowed the Australian to go on his way.

Commentary: In Pattaya you can get a pretty good bottled beer for 200 Baht. But 20,000 Baht buys you a nice little car window…. Perhaps Pattaya needs signs that say “No drinking and carrying large rocks allowed.”
