Warning! Your Biggest Worry isn't the Curfew!

If you’re about to travel to Thailand your biggest worry isn’t the declaration of martial law, the military coup or even the 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew (although that does impact one’s entertainment).

Your biggest worry is what happens if you’re in a motorbike or jet-ski accident, accidentally fall off your balcony drunk, get mugged and sodomized by a group of Pattaya Beach freelancer ladyboys or beaten to a pulp by a clubs bouncers only because they didn’t like your face.
Why? Because all travel medical insurance policies have these same standard “Exclusions of Coverage: War whether declared or not, hostile or warlike action in time of peace, military action, terrorism, political insurrection, rebellion, protest, civil war or any act thereof. The Company will not pay for a Political Evacuation if there is a travel advisory in effect on or within six (6) months prior to the Insured Person’s date of arrival in the Host Country.

That pretty much covers the current situation in Thailand don’t you think? In other words if you find yourself in an accident or injured in any way while in Thailand your hospital and doctors’ bills are going to be paid directly out of your wallet and the travel insurance company doesn’t have to pay you 1 Baht of reimbursement!

My opinion? Save the insurance premium for the travel medical and invest it in a quality bar fine instead!
