Walking Street to be Replaced by Disneyland!

From The Bangkok Post today is the story that’s bad news for all us party animals that go to Pattaya to have some fun. Pattaya officials are racing to clean up the resort's beaches and vice spots to try to shake off the "sin city" tag and prevent the military stepping in as they have done in Phuket and Hua Hin.

According to the story the new acting head of Pattaya City Police is aiming to completely change the image of Pattaya to make it a friendly town that everyone can enjoy!

Pol Col Suppatee, added that he was aiming to totally eradicate street prostitution. “This is my version of returning happiness to Pattaya town.”

“Ladyboys happen to be the majority of people we arrest.”

Chief on the list was stopping beach chair and umbrella renters breaching rules on their allocated space of 7m by 7m, operating outside the designated hours of 7am to 6.30pm, and cooking on the beach, which is prohibited.

Commentary: Say good-bye to a lot of tourist & beer dollars and say hello “Disneyland”. Perhaps I will go to Angeles in the Philippines next year. Looks like the party is about to be over in Pattaya. At least for the next few years until the winds of change blow back the other direction. But they do have my vote for wanting to clean up Pattaya Beach. We all know that’s well past due.
