Swedish Tourist Left Broke by Freelancer Thief..

From Pattaya One News is the story of a 68 year old Swedish tourist that had arrived in Pattaya on November 21st. He was left with no cash or place to stay after an apparent freelancer stole all his Baht. He had taken the Thai woman back to his room at the Eastiny Place Hotel but the next morning he awoke to find the woman gone along with his 30,000 Baht and credit cards. At this point the tourist had no money for food or to pay for his room and for 4 days lived at the Pattaya Police station. Eventually the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok was made aware of his case and they contacted the newly appointed Tourist Assistance Foundation. They ended up paying for the Swedes hotel room for the remainder of his stay and provided 10,000 Baht for food and drinks for which he was very grateful.

Commentary: Double congratulations to the Swede for paying the highest amount to a freelancer in Pattaya and for being this weeks poster boy for “Don’t’ let this happen to you!”
But seriously I wonder if the next time I blow 20,000 Baht on bar girls and beer in one night of partying in Bangkok if I can put in a claim with the Tourist Assistance Foundation? I’m just as needy as the next guy. Ok, maybe greedy is the word but you understand where I’m coming from.
