Chinese Tourist Has Gold Snatched in Pattaya..

From Pattaya People is the story of a 30 year old Chinese tourist that was walking with friends in front of the Big C Extra on Central Road Wednesday afternoon. That’s when a man on a motorbike rode up beside him and as he passed the tourist the thief snatched the Chinese man’s gold necklace off his neck. Estimated value of the gold is 50,000 Baht. The tourist filed a complaint at the police station but the thief was unable to be located. The unhappy Chinese tourist said that he would never return to Pattaya again, claiming that unlike China, Thailand was a dangerous place for visitors.

Commentary: Unlike China? When I was in Shanghai in 2013 I had to practically beat the constant stream of pickpockets off with a baseball bat each time I left my hotel! But if you wear 50,000 Baht in gold around your neck in a beach resort flaunting your wealth in a country where many people are a lot poorer than you then you can’t expect everyone to just bow down to you brother. Not saying it’s right for a guy to snatch your gold but a little common sense goes a long way in keeping your valuables safe. I really should start a tourist gold deposit box business in Pattaya. Really I should…
