Bangkok Taxi Drivers Fined for Refusing Fares..

From Bangkok Coconuts is the story of Bangkok police conducting a sting on taxi drivers in 4 locations:  MBK Center, National Stadium, Siam Square and the Grand Palace. Undercover officers found 21 taxi drivers with their metered taxi lights on but then the drivers refused fares claiming they didn’t want to drive into areas of high traffic or claiming they were low on fuel. Police said the worst location for being rejected by taxi drivers was MBK Center. All 21 taxi drivers were ordered to pay fines at the police station.

Commentary: They should threaten to impound the damn taxi’s. I’ve been hassled by Bangkok taxi drivers every year that don’t want to drive me to an out of the way location, temples or even Khao San road because of “traffic” or want 400 Baht for what would be a 60 Baht fare. I’ve had to flag as many as 3 or 4 taxi’s at times just to get a damn taxi driver to take me to where I want to go. It’s a pain in the ass every single time!
