Japanese Tourist Drowns While Snorkeling off Koh Gai..

From the Phuket Gazette is the story of yet another tourist that has drowned while snorkeling in Thailand on April 15th. The 52 year old Japanese woman was wearing a life jacket but other tourists noticed that she wasn’t moving while snorkeling off the popular day trip island of Koh Gai. CPR was administered by tour staffers and the tourist was taken too shore where she was pronounced dead at Krabi hospital.

Commentary: This is the 2nd tourist to die while snorkeling in Thailand during the past 2 weeks. How do you drown while wearing a life jacket and breathing through a snorkel? WTF? My advice if you plan on snorkeling in Thailand is to buy and bring your own high quality silicone snorkel with you in your baggage. That way you’ll know you’ll be breathing air and not ocean when you need to.
