Pattaya Ferry with 102 Chinese Tourists Catches Fire…

From Pattaya One News is the story of a Pattaya ferry boat with 102 Chinese tourists on board that caught fire in the middle of Pattaya Bay Monday afternoon. All of the tourists were rescued unharmed.

This just 1 day after another Pattaya ferry with 82 people on board sunk off Larn Island on Sunday. It turns out that the ferry boat that sunk Sunday had previously sunk causing injuries to passengers. In addition a similar boat from the same company sank in 2013 causing 6 deaths and over 100 injuries.

Commentary: Boat safety? The owner of the boat that sunk Sunday simply changed the name after it sunk the first time. I guess hoping a new name would bring good luck. Apparently it didn’t work out very well. What’s another name for a ferry boat in Thailand? A coffin….
