Foreign Tourist Killed in Parasailing Accident in Pattaya Bay...

Pattaya One News reports that on June 4th a 37 year old Sri Lankan tourist, was killed in a parasailing accident in Pattaya Bay.

Witnesses claim that after about only two minutes in the air the wind seemed to suddenly disappear because the tourist dropped and crashed into the boat. He was knocked unconscious and later died from his injuries. The boat was being driven by a Thai naval officer.

City officials say that accidents such as these are harming the image of Pattaya and a meeting has been called to discuss new guidelines that will be implemented in an attempt to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities to foreign tourists in the Bay. There have been too many watersports and passenger boat injuries and officials believe that a lack of control, untrained staff with poor skills, limited experience and poor standards of equipment are partly to blame.

Commentary: If you’re parasailing the wind has nothing to do with stopping! The boat is pulling you along by the rope! You only drop if the damn boat stops! Looks like it’s more the boat operators fault not the lack of wind that caused this unlucky tourist to be killed!
