Australian Man Falls To Death While Parasailing In Phuket

Stickboy Bangkok reports that a 70-year-old Australian parasailing at Kata Beach in Phuket fell to his death as holidaymakers watched in horror on Wednesday afternoon. Rescue workers arrived on the scene after being alerted by lifeguards around midday to find the body of the man, identified as John Roger Haisey, laid on the beach.

He was rushed to Patong Hospital but despite the best efforts of doctors and medics, he succumbed to his injuries at 2.30pm.
Video footage recorded by the deceased’s wife shows Mr Haisey preparing to go parasailing and captured the moment he fell out the harness and plummeted into the sea.
The operator flying with Mr Haisey claims he pulled a hook that unstrapped his harness causing him to fall.
Officers from Karon Police Station are questioning the operators of the boat and parasail, telling reporters they have yet to decide if charges will be filled against them for negligence.
